CVE-2022-48880

Kernel memory leakage via omitted request cleanup

Published Aug 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Resource leakage in the Linux Surface Aggregator controller allows attackers to retain kernel memory via unspecified vectors. When ssam_request_sync_init() fails in drivers/platform/surface/aggregator/controller.c, the error path omits ssam_request_sync_free() and leaves the request allocated. Exposure requires the Surface Aggregator subsystem used with supported Microsoft Surface hardware, and no reliable attacker-controlled failure trigger is documented.
