Kernel memory corruption via freed receive buffer
Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel gdm724x driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory or crash through the receive path. gdm_lte_rx() calls netif_rx_ni(), which frees the socket buffer, and then dereferences the released skb->len field to update receive statistics. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and the affected gdm724x driver; reported consequences are memory corruption and a system crash.
