CVE-2022-48836Public exploit

Service interruption via mismatched USB endpoint types

Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026

Improper endpoint validation in the Linux Aiptek tablet driver allows local users to interrupt service through crafted USB endpoint descriptors. The aiptek_open path checks the endpoint count but submits an interrupt URB without confirming compatible bulk-in and interrupt-out endpoint types. Triggering requires local ability to present the descriptors and open the input device; the documented result is a kernel warning, with no reported data access or code execution.
