Local freed-memory access via GSWIP teardown ordering
Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux kernel 5.10.101, 5.15.24, and 5.16.10 allows local users to access freed memory during GSWIP device removal. In gswip_remove(), mdiobus_free() releases slave_mii_bus before of_node_put() dereferences the bus to obtain its device-tree node. The path requires local access and GSWIP driver teardown; the public record identifies no demonstrated consequence beyond the invalid access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
