Local system hang via recursive SMC callbacks
Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Infinite callback recursion in Linux 5.15.22 through 5.15.24 and 5.16.8 through 5.16.10 allows local users to hang the system. Repeated SMC fallback overwrites saved clcsock callback pointers with fallback handlers, causing sk_error_report to recurse through smc_fback_error_report. Low-privileged local access and an SMC socket path that enters fallback more than once are required; confidentiality and integrity remain unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
