Kernel memory corruption via stale PVID pointer
Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in the Ocelot Ethernet switch driver in Linux 5.16 allows local users to crash the kernel through VLAN deletion. ocelot_vlan_member_del() frees the port's ocelot_bridge_vlan object before ocelot_vlan_del() reads its vid through pvid_vlan. Reaching the defect requires local VLAN-configuration access on a system using the affected driver; a resulting kernel fault interrupts the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
