CVE-2022-48738

Disclosure and crash via unchecked mixer values

Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in affected Linux kernel ASoC code allow local users to read unintended data or crash the system via mixer controls. snd_soc_put_volsw adds the control minimum to userspace-supplied left and right values, masks and shifts them, and updates a register without first enforcing the advertised range. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an ASoC mixer control whose writes use this callback; no remote path or integrity impact is reported.
