CVE-2022-48709

Local denial of service via unreleased recipe memory

Published May 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Memory leak in the Linux kernel ice switch code allows local users to exhaust kernel memory by causing advanced recipe creation to fail. When ice_add_special_words() returns an error inside ice_add_adv_recipe(), the error path leaves the allocated recipe-management object rm unreleased instead of unwinding it. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a system using the affected ice switch code; repeated failures can consume memory and interrupt service.
