Root command execution via writable cron file
Published Apr 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect permissions in Logpoint SIEM 7.0.0 through 7.1.1 allow local users to execute arbitrary commands as root via a cron file. The daily clean_secbi_old_logs cron file grants write access to all users, while the cron scheduler executes its contents with root privileges. Any local account that can modify this file can replace or append commands that run as root during the next daily execution, enabling full system compromise.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
