Facial recognition interruption via out-of-bounds read
Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in the facial recognition TA in Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt facial recognition. The facial recognition TA reads outside its intended memory buffer, but Huawei has not published the triggering input or omitted validation. The published vector requires no privileges or user interaction, and the documented consequence is limited to facial recognition service exceptions.
