Process interruption via unchecked submessage length subtraction

Integer overflow in protobuf-c before 1.4.1 allows local users to interrupt a consuming process through a malformed required submessage. In parse_required_member, a prefix longer than the field length makes unsigned len - pref_len wrap before the oversized value is passed to protobuf_c_message_unpack. The input must reach a locally accessible consumer using the affected parser; published assessments identify availability impact only, but the exact failure mode is undisclosed.
