Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Feb 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 25, 2025
Stored XSS in Clean Login before 1.13.7 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through crafted shortcode attributes. The shortcode renderer returns some user-supplied attributes to page output without validating their values or applying context-appropriate escaping. Contributor-level publishing access is sufficient, and the stored script executes when another user, including an administrator, visits the affected page.
