CVE-2022-48364Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Moderator identity disclosure via incorrect appeal actor

Published Mar 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 6, 2025

Information disclosure in Mastodon 3.5.0 through 3.5.2 allows remote authenticated users to identify a moderator through post edit history. The undo_mark_statuses_as_sensitive method passes the logged-in moderator's account ID to UpdateStatusService instead of the server representative account. Disclosure occurs only after a moderator approves an appeal for a media post marked sensitive, exposing the reversing moderator's identity in that post's edit history.
