Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Stored XSS in Bunte Giraffe Show-Hide / Collapse-Expand before 1.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to run script in an administrator's browser. The bg_collapse shortcode inserts the onclick, color, inline_css, icon, and, before 1.2.6, custom_class attributes into page output without validation or context-appropriate escaping. Contributor access is required to save the crafted shortcode, and the payload executes when a higher-privileged user views the rendered page.
