CVE-2022-48235

Local service interruption via unchecked MP3 encoder write

Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in the UNISOC MP3 encoder on Android 10 through 13 allows local users with System privileges to interrupt service. The encoder omits a bounds check before writing to an unspecified buffer, allowing input to cross the destination boundary. The CNA description requires System execution privileges, while UNISOC's vector records no privileges and user interaction; the sources do not reconcile this conflict.
