CVE-2022-48196

Pre-authentication device crash via buffer overflow

Published Dec 30, 2022 · Updated Apr 10, 2025

Buffer overflow in NETGEAR router firmware allows remote attackers on an adjacent network to crash affected devices without authentication. NETGEAR has not disclosed the affected component, input field, or unchecked copy operation that overruns the buffer. Exploitation requires adjacent-network reachability, and the vendor assessment limits the demonstrated consequence to a service-interrupting crash.
