CVE-2022-4819Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped decision names

Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored XSS in decision-name rendering in HotCRP allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in other users' browsers. Several display paths insert stored chair-supplied decision names directly into HTML instead of applying the shared HTML-encoding operation. Chair privileges are required to define a malicious decision name, and execution occurs when another user opens an affected interface.
