CVE-2022-48174Public exploit

Arbitrary code execution via ash arithmetic overflow

Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Jul 14, 2026

Stack overflow in BusyBox ash on affected Siemens devices allows local users to execute arbitrary code through crafted shell input. The ash_arith path passes attacker-controlled arithmetic text to evaluate_string, which writes eight bytes beyond a dynamic stack buffer. Execution requires local access and user interaction; successful exploitation can compromise device confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
