Authenticated code execution via unbounded route formatting
Published Feb 2, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
Stack overflow in formSetStaticRoute in Tenda W20E 15.11.0.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted route fields. The handler reads staticRouteNet, staticRouteMask, staticRouteGateway, and staticRouteWAN from an HTTP request and uses unbounded sprintf calls to format them into fixed-size stack buffers. Access to the router management interface and valid administrative credentials are required; oversized values can execute code or crash the service.
