Cross-user data modification via client-controlled identifiers
Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Improper access control in Memos 0.9.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter other users' memos and shortcuts via API. Affected handlers decode JSON after setting server-derived resource or owner IDs, allowing request fields to replace those privileged values before datastore operations. Any account can archive another user's private memo or edit and delete another user's shortcuts, without gaining reported read access.
