Cross-user record creation via client-supplied owner ID
Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Improper authorization in Memos before 0.9.1 allows remote authenticated users to create records under another user's identity. The memo creation handler decoded JSON into a structure whose CreatorID came from the session, allowing a creatorId request key to overwrite that trusted value. Exploitation requires a valid account and permits cross-user data attribution and modification without reported service interruption.
