Browser script execution via unescaped settings input
Published Jan 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 28, 2025
Reflected XSS in OpenCATS 0.9.7 allows remote attackers to execute script in a victim's browser through a crafted settings request. The ajax_tags_upd action reflects attacker-controlled request data into its HTTP response, but the public record does not identify the parameter or output operation. Exploitation requires a victim to open the crafted request; successful script runs in the OpenCATS origin and can access or alter browser-visible session data.
