Unauthorized post deletion via unchecked ownership result
Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Authorization bypass in Memos before 0.9.1 allows remote attackers to delete another user's posts through the HTTP API. The memo deletion handler ignores the result of an owner-filtered lookup and deletes the record identified by an attacker-supplied memo ID. No preexisting account privilege or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation removes the selected post on behalf of its owner.
