CVE-2022-47950Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated file disclosure via S3 XML entities

Published Jan 18, 2023 · Updated Apr 4, 2025

XXE in OpenStack Swift before 2.28.1, 2.29.0 through 2.29.1, and 2.30.0 allows remote authenticated users to read server files. The S3 API's shared lxml parser resolves external entities in attacker-controlled XML, injects local file contents into request fields, and reflects them in responses. Exploitation requires valid S3 credentials and an s3api or legacy swift3 deployment with S3 compatibility enabled; disclosure is limited to files readable by the Swift service account.
