Firewall bypass via base64-decoded URL proxy
Published Jan 30, 2023 · Updated Mar 28, 2025
Reflected file download in AAWP before 3.12.3 allows remote attackers to serve arbitrary files through a trusted WordPress domain. The public/image.php endpoint base64-decodes its url parameter, retrieves the referenced remote resource, and returns it as a download without restricting the destination. No authentication is required, allowing a trusted site to relay malware or other attacker-selected files and bypass domain-based firewall controls.
