CVE-2022-47933Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Browser crash via unblocked IPFS subframe request

Published Dec 24, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Improper exception handling in Brave Browser before 1.42.51 allows remote attackers to crash the browser through a crafted HTML file. The IPFS request handler returned success for subframe requests when IPFS resolution was disabled instead of blocking them, allowing downstream processing to raise an uncaught exception. Exploitation requires a user to open attacker-controlled HTML; the resulting failure terminates the browser and interrupts the active session.
