Stored XSS via unescaped design shortcode attribute
Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
Stored XSS in Product Slider and Carousel with Category for WooCommerce before 2.8 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The wcpscwc_pdt_slider shortcode places the unvalidated, unescaped design attribute into generated page output, allowing an event handler to persist. Contributor privileges are sufficient to store the payload, but a visitor must open the affected page; the script then runs in that visitor's browser context.
