CVE-2022-47758Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via unverified MQTT certificate

Published Apr 27, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Improper certificate validation in Nanoleaf firmware 7.1.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through DNS hijacking. The cloud_daemon passes MBEDTLS_SSL_VERIFY_NONE to mbedtls_ssl_conf_authmode for its outbound MQTT TLS connection, causing it to accept an attacker-controlled broker certificate and process debug-channel commands. Exploitation requires control of the device's DNS or DHCP path; the demonstrated chain redirects MQTT traffic and invokes binaries as root.
