Local file disclosure via prefix-based path check
Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Holger Hees cloudsync allows local users to read files outside the configured backup root through getItem. LocalFilesystemConnector.getItem compares canonical path strings with startsWith, so a sibling path sharing the root's prefix passes the containment check. Exploitation requires local access and external symbolic-link following, and the consequence is limited to unintended file disclosure.
