Process crash via oversized LATM frame copy
Published Jan 5, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
A stack buffer overflow in GPAC MP4Box 2.1-DEV-rev644-g5c4df2a67 allows attackers to crash MP4Box through a crafted media file. During LATM audio processing, latm_dmx_process passes an input-derived frame length to gf_bs_read_data, which writes past the 4,096-byte latm_buffer. A local user must make MP4Box import the file; the demonstrated consequence is a sanitizer-detected crash, while code execution was not demonstrated.
