Process crash via out-of-bounds VPS index
Published Jan 5, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Buffer overflow in GPAC MP4Box 2.1-DEV-rev644-g5c4df2a67 allows local users to crash the process via a crafted HEVC file. The gf_hevc_read_vps_bs_internal parser indexes a four-byte array at offset 4 while processing malformed VPS data, causing out-of-bounds access. A user must cause MP4Box to import the crafted file; the public sanitizer trace demonstrates a crash, while code execution remains unverified.
