File exfiltration via virtual-machine USB passthrough
Published Dec 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Security-control bypass in Zoho ManageEngine Device Control Plus 10.1.2228.15 allows local users to exfiltrate files through a VM. The endpoint agent enforces removable-media restrictions only in the host environment, while a virtual machine can attach the USB device and access a host-shared drive for bidirectional copying. A non-admin user with VM access and a configured host share can transfer files without host Windows audit events; Zoho disputes that this behavior is a product vulnerability.
