Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode class attribute
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Stored XSS in List Pages Shortcode before 1.7.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through a crafted shortcode. The [list-pages] shortcode returns its class attribute to page output without validating or escaping attacker-controlled markup. Contributor-level access is sufficient to save the payload, which runs when a higher-privileged user views the affected page and can expose or alter data available in that browser session.
