Authenticated administrator escalation via user-rights reassignment
Published Mar 30, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Improper access control in Red Gate SQL Monitor before 11.2.21 or 12.1.46 allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator rights. The role-based access-control path accepts a read-only, standard, or reporting user request to modify SQL Monitor user-rights assignments without enforcing the required administrative permission. Exploitation requires a valid low-privileged account and Active Directory (LDAP) authentication; anonymous users cannot reach the privilege-changing operation.
