CVE-2022-47519

System crash via undersized operating-channel attribute

Published Dec 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 17, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel before 6.0.11 allows remote attackers to cause a system crash via malformed Wi-Fi management frames. The wilc_wfi_cfg_parse_ch_attr function accepts an undersized IEEE80211_P2P_ATTR_OPER_CHANNEL attribute, then writes op_class and op_channel beyond its buffer. Exploitation requires an active WILC1000 interface and Wi-Fi proximity; the one- or two-byte overwrite corrupts heap memory and can crash the system.
