SYSTEM code execution via TFTP junction abuse
Published Apr 21, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Link following in the TFTP Server service in SolarWinds Platform 2023.1 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The service configuration follows an attacker-created junction when creating or reading files, permitting access outside the intended TFTP path. A valid low-privileged Windows account and local code execution are required; successful exploitation grants arbitrary file access and SYSTEM privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
