Contributor-level stored XSS via unsanitized shortcode attributes
Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025
Stored XSS in WP Responsive Testimonials Slider And Widget 1.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject script via shortcode attributes. The testimonials_slider shortcode interpolates the attacker-controlled autoplay attribute into a JavaScript configuration without validation or output escaping. A Contributor or higher role can store the payload in a page or post; script runs in a visitor's browser when the rendered content is viewed, enabling actions within that visitor's session.
