Service interruption via unchecked out-of-bounds write
Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025
Classic buffer overflow in the soter service on UNISOC chipsets running Android 10 through 13 allows local users to interrupt the service. The service fails to check a buffer boundary before writing, allowing the write to extend beyond the intended memory region. Exploitation requires local access with System execution privileges, and the disclosed consequence is limited to denial of service.
