Stored XSS via unsanitized Select2 tag labels

Published Feb 7, 2023 · Updated Mar 25, 2025

Stored XSS in tagging views in Mayan EDMS LLC Mayan EDMS 4.3.3 allows remote authenticated users to run script in a victim's browser. The Select2 template for tag attachment and removal renders tag labels without complete sanitization, allowing stored markup to execute when the tag menu opens. Exploitation requires a trusted account with tag-management permission and victim interaction; the vendor bounds the consequence to displayed content and phishing, without access-control bypass or data exposure.
