Authenticated code execution via CmpTraceMgr stack overwrite
Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025
Stack-based out-of-bounds write in CmpTraceMgr in CODESYS products allows remote authenticated users to execute code. CmpTraceMgr processes crafted CODESYS protocol requests by writing attacker-controlled data beyond a stack buffer's bounds. Successful product authentication is required; exploitation can overwrite memory, execute code, or interrupt the controller service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
