Cross-site scripting via raw page-title rendering
Published Dec 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Juan Schwindt Venganzas del Pasado allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted page parameter. Four Rails views interpolate params[:page] into the_title and pass that value to raw, disabling HTML escaping for the rendered heading. Exploitation requires low-privileged access and a victim to open the crafted archive, contributions, posts, or torrents URL, after which script runs in the site's browser origin.
