Authentication bypass via nonexistent-user credential response
Published May 22, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025
Authentication bypass in Dataprobe iBoot-PDU firmware before 1.42.06162022 allows remote authenticated users to access the device. The protocol's credential function returns username and password values for an unknown user instead of rejecting the lookup, causing authentication to succeed. Network access and low-privileged credentials are required; a successful connection exposes device data and permits limited state changes.
