Service interruption via unlimited MFA email resends
Published Dec 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 9, 2025
Resource exhaustion in IKUS Software Rdiffweb before 2.5.5 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service via repeated MFA email resends. PagePrefMfa.default accepts POST requests at /prefs/mfa without the rate-limit decorator, allowing each resend action to dispatch another message. Repeated requests consume application and mail-delivery resources; the path requires an authenticated account and enabled email-based MFA.
