Administrator escalation via stored Facebook-field script
Published Jan 19, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Stored XSS in Ghost 5.9.4 allows remote authenticated users to gain Administrator privileges through a crafted Facebook profile field. The user-update path stores the facebook value and later embeds it in author and post pages without neutralizing executable markup. A contributor-level account, a default shared admin domain, and a logged-in higher-privileged visitor who previews or visits the content are required.
