CVE-2022-4715Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes

Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 3, 2025

Stored XSS in Structured Content (JSON-LD) #wpsc before 1.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via shortcode attributes. The sc_fs_faq shortcode writes the css_class attribute into page markup without validation or output escaping, allowing an event-handler payload to persist. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload, and script execution occurs when a higher-privileged user views the affected page.
