CVE-2022-47111Public exploit

Integrity-check bypass via accepted reserved block flags

Published Apr 19, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Improper error handling in 7-Zip 22.01 allows local users to pass an invalid XZ archive as valid through crafted block flags. The XZ Block Flags parser accepts reserved bits that the file-format specification requires decoders to reject, then returns success without reporting the malformed archive. Exploitation requires a user or local workflow to process the crafted file, allowing corrupted input to bypass integrity checks without code execution or service interruption.
