CVE-2022-47094Public exploit

Process crash via null PID descriptor dereference

Published Jan 5, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025

Null pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 2.1-DEV-rev574-g9d5bb184b allows local users to crash the process with a crafted AVI file. While declaring an MPEG-2 transport-stream PID, m2tsdmx_declare_pid accesses a member of a null GF_InitialObjectDescriptor pointer. The file must be opened through MP4Box's import path, and the demonstrated consequence is an AddressSanitizer-detected process crash; code execution was only conjectured in the report.
