Process crash via unchecked VVC tile count
Published Jan 24, 2025 · Updated Jan 24, 2025
Buffer overflow in GPAC MP4Box 2.1-DEV-rev574-g9d5bb184b allows attackers to crash the process via a crafted VVC file. The gf_vvc_read_pps_bs_internal parser trusts the encoded tile-column count and writes past the 30-element tile_cols_width_ctb array. The attack requires a user to process the file; the published proof demonstrates an out-of-bounds write and sanitizer-detected crash, not code execution.
