Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode class attribute
Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 2, 2025
Stored XSS in Genesis Columns Advanced before 2.0.4 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The shortcode renderer places the user-controlled class attribute into generated page markup without validation or output escaping. Contributor access is sufficient to save the payload; it executes when a higher-privileged user views the page and interacts with the crafted element.
