Plugin deactivation via unchecked compatibility AJAX action
Published Jan 10, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Improper access control in WP Royal Royal Addons for Elementor 1.3.59 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to deactivate plugins. The wpr_fix_royal_compatibility AJAX handler omits nonce and capability checks, deactivates every plugin outside a short hardcoded allowlist, and switches the active theme. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, so the action can disable security or functional plugins and interrupt site availability.
